You will need to have Google Earth installed on your computer; it's FREE - click here to download and install.
When you've got Google Earth installed, download this file: nantymoch-turbines.kmz
Open the file, and it will:
1. start Google Earth;
2. superimpose 3D images of the 64 turbines onto the Google Earth image;
3. Zoom in to Nant y Moch.
To go for a virtual flight over the wind farm, hold down the Shift key, then place the cursor in the middle of the screen and drag it down. This will tilt the map and give you an oblique 3D view. You can then zoom, pan etc. With a little practice you can fly right round the area and inspect each turbine site in detail.
The imagery doesn't show the huge network of new, very wide access roads that would have to be cut through the landscape before the turbines could be erected, and which would remain as permanent scars.
And finally, for scale purposes only
(there are no plans at present to build
a turbine in Machynlleth):
