BOURNE BACKS AONB CALL

Nick Bourne, leader of the Welsh Conservatives in the National Assembly, and AM for Mid and West Wales, recently said: "I fully support the Cambrian Mountains Society in their call for the Cambrian Mountains to be declared an area of outstanding natural beauty. The mountains are breathtakingly beautiful and we should do all we can to ensure this spectacular landscape is preserved so that it can be enjoyed by future generations."

EXHIBITION CELEBRATES THE CAMBRIANS

The Society staged a successful exhibition during Spring Bank Holiday Week, at the Elan Valley Visitor Centre near Rhayader.

This was the first public event organised by the Cambrian Mountains Society, and featured the stunning photographic work of Society trustee Martin Wright.

The exhibition told the story of the Cambrian Mountains; the forces that shaped them; mankind's long relationship with the land; and the pressures it faces in the twenty-first century. It aimed to convey the many moods of the Cambrians and unfold their history through images and words.

The Society is grateful to the Elan Valley Trust for its financial support towards the costs of staging the exhibition.
