Blaen Rhestr 360° panorama (114Kb)

Blaen Rhestr is the essence of the Cambrian Mountains. It may be only 547m/1788' high, but it is right in the middle of a huge area of remote moorland, and surrounded on all sides by - emptiness! It is close to the two Cerriglwydion lakes, and the Monks' Trod (an ancient track which links Strata Florida and Cwmhir Abbeys) passes just 200 yards from it. The views encompass Radnor Forest, Drygarn Fawr, the tops of the Brecon Beacons, and (though marred by the huge Cefn Croes windfarm) Pumlumon. The rocky summit provides perfect shelter for the prolonged lunch stop that this place deserves, far from roads and noise - except that of the skylarks.
