Working to secure greater recognition for the unique landscape, environment and heritage of the Cambrian MountainsMembership | News | Constitution | Committee | Annual Reports | Language Policy The Cambrian Mountains Society has been formed with the following objects: 1. To promote, for the benefit of local communities, and of the wider public, measures which will sustain or enhance the landscape, natural beauty, biodiversity, archaeology, scientific interest, and cultural heritage of the Cambrian Mountains; 2. To advance the education of the public in the landscape,
natural beauty, biodiversity, archaeology, scientific nature,
cultural heritage and geodiversity of the Cambrian Mountains. We believe that the absence of any coherent official identity for the Cambrian Mountains has encouraged national and local authorities to perceive them as marginal and unimportant, and has left them prey to piecemeal development and exploitation, the cumulative effect of which will ultimately be the destruction of the special qualities which make the Cambrian Mountains unique.
The Society is proud to have Iolo Williams, naturalist and broadcaster, as its President. Membership of the Society is open to individuals over 18, and to corporate bodies, who support the Society's objects. The Society is an unincorporated registered charity, number 1113037. As well as campaigning, the Society organises members' events throughout the Cambrian Mountains area, as part of its commitment to its second object.
