Campaigner Kate Ashbrook, who recently spoke after the Cambrian Mountains Society’s AGM, has called on CMS to press the Welsh Assembly’s countryside agency, now Natural Resources Wales, to look once more at the case for AONB designation for the Cambrian Mountains.
In an excellent blog post, Kate refers to the recent approval of extensions to the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, and says that the absence of any landscape designation in Mid Wales is now the most glaring piece of unfinished business from the 1947 Hobhouse Report, which set the framework for the creation of National Parks and other designated landscapes in England and Wales.
