We have launched a petition asking the Senedd to hold a debate on the proposition that the Cambrian Mountains should be designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We need 250 signatures for the Senedd Petition Committee to discuss the petition, but 10,000 signatures to require the Senedd itself to consider the issue – and although anyone at all can sign, the Petition Committee only lends weight to signatures coming from people with addresses within Wales. So, although we very much appreciate all our English, Scottish, Irish and other supporters, this one really is down to our Members and friends within Wales itself. As at late-May, after a month online, we are approaching 600 Welsh signatures – so still a long way to go.
Please show your support and sign the Petition here, today!
If you have friends, family and colleagues in Wales who support the principle of designation, please let them know too. We’ll be issuing a press release shortly to get some media coverage. And of course with the County Council elections just round the corner, make sure the candidates in your ward are aware of the campaign – we’ll need as many as possible of the new County Councillors for Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Powys to get on board too.
Many thanks/ diolch yn fawr!
