CMS are delighted that Alys Fowler has agreed to join our President, Llyr Williams, as a new Patron of the Society.  The Trustees believe that Alys’ work encouraging people to grow their own food in small spaces and reconnect with nature in a practical yet imaginative way, fully aligns with the Society’s work to bring people better to understand the Cambrians as a working and living space with a deep history of food and farming onto which pure recreational use is a recent and relatively small-scale addition.

Alys’ latest book, on Peatlands, addresses the under-appreciated beauties and importance of this exceptional habitat, of which the Cambrians hold the largest area in Wales other than Eryri.  With our current advocacy for the region focussing on the value of the fragile natural upland ecosystems and the connectivity they represent – essential for nature resilience across the whole of Wales – we’re sure Alys’ commitment will help us get the Society’s message across.  You can watch her November webinar for the Society here https://www.cambrian-mountains.co.uk/webinars/webinar-videos/for-the-love-of-peat-alys-fowler-explains-her-fascination/
