Myherin-Forest-Cambrian-Mountains

Natural Resources Wales have been consulting over the management of two of their forest areas just south of the Pumlumon Massif within the Cambrian Mountains.  You can see the Society’s response here.  We’re very pleased to hear from the Forest Planning team that they have accepted our proposed amended wording, recognising the importance of Public Rights of Way.

Myherin-Forest-and-Pendihewyd-Cambrian-MountainsThey also confirm that their new Forest Resource Planning Long-term objectives map includes a buffer of open habitat land along the forest edge close to Pen Dihewyd, included to avoid a negative visual impact from conifers close to the skyline, when viewed from the north.  (No irony here in the fact that Taredig Forest is rather blighted already by the presence of a group of wind turbines – Cambrian-Mountains-southern-part-Tarenig-Foresttiny, in comparison to the many marine-scale monsters being proposed to march across the entire area, but more than large enough to diminish the landscape. )

Finally, the points we made as to improving access have been referred to the land management team for consideration as to how access and signage can be improved.   So, let us know next time you’re out and about around the forests: any sign of those improvements actually taking place on the ground?
