Cambrian-Mountains-Cwm

It will not have escaped notice that Plaid Cymru campaigned to form the new Welsh Government in part on a significant change to the previous approach to renewable power stations.  Indeed, the new Energy, Connectivity and Enterprise Minister proposed a Bill on Community Energy only two years ago and has written on his blog about the misguidedness of seeking to reach Net Zero through installing industrial wind farms to the detriment of local communities.

So much of this chimes with the Society’s own policy that we’re tempted to believe the new administration will be taking action to limit the current ‘gold rush’ to destroy peatlands, biodiversity, tourism and communities by building these mammoth developments in the remotest and least-suitable parts of Mid-Wales, including the Cambrians.  Just in case the Minister and his colleagues had forgotten their former stance in the excitement of election, we recently wrote to remind them.  You can read our letter here.  We will of course let you know when we receive a response.
