Our next Members’ walk will be at 10 am on 8 October, starting from the turning point at the ruined Bwlch-glas mine in the wonderfully scenic Cwm Cyneiniog and offers quickly changing superb views in all directions, and a real sense of remoteness. Taking very small paths, sometimes over open terrain and small crags, the walk heads up the slopes of Llechwedd Cwm-byr to the first summit of Bryn Mawr, overlooking Cwm Ceulan. A short ‘off-piste’ section is followed by an easy track with glorious wide views to the lovely little Llyn Nantycagal, then a return to Cwm Cyneiniog along a gently descending long, winding forest track.
The walk is 10.5km (6 miles) with 369m metres of height gain in total. Well-behaved dogs (on leads when around stock) are welcome. Maurice Kyle is leading it for the Society and promises an environmental theme; let him know (contact details in the Members’ email) if you plan to join us.
