Cambrian-Mountains-Monks-Trod

On Sunday 10th August Peter Foulkes will be leading a walk from the end of the Teifi Pools road, heading east along the  track to Claerwen farm on the border with Powys.

Walk description

Cambrian-Mountains-Monks-TrodThe walk covers 7 miles with only limited ascent but one particularly boggy section and a river crossing which may, if there has been any more rain by then, require significant care.  starts where the tarmac ends on the Teifi Pools road and makes its way east via the restricted byway (the ‘other’ Monks Trod) to the Rhyd Hengae river crossing.  From there it’s up to lunch on the crags above Llyn Cerrigllwydion Uchaf.

Then it’s a descent to Claerwen farm, via Esgair Cywion, followed by catching the hill track back to the starting point.  Along the track we will pass one of the more usual interpretations of the Trod on its way to Abaty Ystrad Fflur/Strata Florida.

Cambrian-Mountains-Monks-TrodNo dogs on this one, sorry.  But do let Peter know in advance (on the number in the Members’ email) if you intend to join us – not least as there is limited parking, so if we’re a crowd we may need to arrange some lifts from further back on the road.
