On Sunday 14th June, Richard Tyler will be leading the next members’ walk. We’re starting at 10.30am from beside St. Gwrthwl’s Parish Church in the centre of Llanwrthwl village, which revels in the wonderful What3words address of providing.eagles.pausing. Parking is along the right-hand side of the road leading into the village, after turning off the A470 between Rhayader and Newbridge-on-Wye a quarter of a mile north from the Petrol station/Greggs/Spar.
The walk is a ‘circular’ routelargely within the valleys leading down into Llanwrthwl (and ultimately the Afon Gwy). The route is bounded by the ridge to the north running down from Y Gamriw and the southerly ridge, with the hills of Drum Ddu and Trembydd. Taking in paths, bridleways and minor roads the route goes through mixed woodland, some rather boggy ground and Common Land. In total it will be approximately five to six miles long with some 200 metres of gentle uphill work. The paths and bridleways sections have had a lot of work done on them by the Llanwrthwl Path Team.
Dogs:- No dogs on this walk please, as lambs are present both on the Common and farmland.
If you are thinking of joining the walk please let Richard know on 07785 227899.
