The Signage Project has finally reached the real world! The first of our new signs is now installed at the George Borrow Hotel in Ponterwyd, to welcome passers-by to the Cambrian Mountains. We have to say we think it looks really good: not too obtrusive (who loves “road furniture”?) but colourful, evocative and – most importantly – letting everyone know they have reached the Cambrian Mountains.
We’re working on getting permission for more signs, with the objective to make sure anyone visiting our wonderful uplands is likely to see one and so realise, potentially for the first time, that the wide open landscape they find themselves in is an actual place, even if not yet a Designated Landscape. If you have a suitable fence, wall, milk churn stand, gate or other possible support facing a road anywhere in the Cambrians, and would like to host another one of these, then please do get in touch. You can use the contact form, or email Lorna on secretary@cambrian-mountains.co.uk. Our mountains need us!
