Bryn Cadwgan is a proposal for up to 25 turbines with a height of 230m (over 750 ft), situated near Llyn Brianne on the Carmarthenshire/ Ceredigion border, south of Llanddewi Brefi above Ffarmers. The developer is Galileo Energy, a Swiss company backed by Australian and New Zealand investment funds (including the Australian Army’s pension fund). They held consultations in autumn 2023, and aim to submit a full planning application by late 2024.

Full details can be seen on their website: https://bryncadwganenergypark.co.uk/en/

The area is designated .  The Developer’s map of the proposed site also shows the boundary going right up to the summit of Crugiau Merched, the highest point in Mynydd Mallaen, precious for its relatively pristine Bronze Age cairns and peatland habitats.  The turbines would also tower over Llyn Brianne and the RSPB Bird Reserve at Gwenffrwd-Dinas.

The proposal is at the consultation and assessment of environmental impact stage, with no formal planning application yet having been submitted.  This development is being opposed by a local campaign group, Cadw Cambria.
