Nant y Maen
Datblygiad pŵer gwynt mawr wedi’i gynnig ar gyfer Tregaron ag Abergwesyn
EDF, the French state electricity company, proposed a 27 turbine wind farm at Nant y Maen, at the crossroads of the Cambrian Way with the mountain road from Tregaron to Abergwesyn. In its initial form it is proposed to include 27 turbines at 230m (800ft) high, with Battery Energy Storage Systems, a substantion and, of course, a grid connection. The access route, yet again, would be from Swansea Docks to Pumsaint and then up the not-yet-confirmed new route through the National Trust’s Dolaucothi Estate via Waun Maenllwyd (Belltown Power) and Lanfawr (Bute Energy) wind farms.
The company’s application to put up an anemometer mast to gather wind data is under consideration by Ceredigion County Council, and they have also filed a Scoping Request with PEDW – to which the Society responded. You can read our response here.
The project is expected to go into statutory consultations in the autumn of 2026.
