Carin-Crugiau-Merched-Mynydd-Mallaen

This proposal is being developed by Belltown Energy, backed by Guernsey-based private equity.  If built, it would consist of 6 turbines at a height of up to 200m (630ft), 13km north-east of Lampeter and 3.5km south-east of Llandewi-Brefi.

It hosts an impressive bird population, and straddles the stronghold of the important Mid-Wales red squirrel population, and would be the dominant feature of the line of the Cambrian hills as seen from the Ceredigion coast between Aberteifi and Llanrhystud.

The developers carried out local consultations in summer 2023 and despite local opposition submitted an application for planning permission in March 2026.  The application is awaiting validation (confirmation that it means all formal requirements) by Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW) before the 5 week window for filing comments begins.  Details at: https://www.waunmaenllwyd.com/en
