June’s walk, led by Andrew Williams on Sunday 9th, visits the Hafan Incline and Hafan lead mine site by following a track to an old quarry near the top of the incline. Weather depending, we will then head across to a leat near Nant y Moch reservoir which may have serviced the Camdwrbach or Brynyrafr mines. We will return to Bwlch Glas on good tracks through Bwlch yr Adwy, south of Bwlchglas.

Cambrian-Mountains-Mine-adit-Bwlch-GlasThe walk is 7 miles with 400m elevation gain on footpaths, forest and moorland tracks.  The mining theme will tie in nicely with the impending trip by the society to visit the Cwmystwyth lead mines on 14 July.  (You can book for this here but NB you’ll need to log in to the Members’ Area to access it.)

Please let Andy know (details in the Members’ email) if you plan to come along.  He’ll be starting from Bwlch Glas parking area near Talybont (GR SN710878). This area can accommodate at least half a dozen cars but is not a public car park so we may need to arrange car shares if there are a lot of ‘takers’.
