Cambrian-mountains-Bryn-Rhudd-Cairn

Our next Members’ walk will start on the Tregaron end of the Tregaron-Abergwesyn road, and take in Carn Fawr & Bryn Rhudd, Ceredigion.  From the convenient layby just outside town, we’ll walk a little way further up the road to get to the footpath up to the plateau.  In the course of the circular walk we’ll visit Cefn y Esgair Fawr and the high points of Carn Fawr (485m) and Bryn Rhudd (480m) with its series of Bronze Age round and ring cairns. We then return via Drysgol to the start point. Assuming that by the latter part of May the sun has come out and the skies are blue, we’ll have superb far reaching views across Ceredigion to the coast and beyond: of Bardsey, Llyn Peninsula, north to Cadair Idris and inland to the Carmarthen Fans.  An opportunity not to be missed to remind yourself what this wonderful landscape currently offers, with never a wind farm nor a pylon to interrupt the view.  With luck there’ll be plenty of upland birds to spot and hear as well.
