The final members’ walk for 2023 will be on Saturday 4th November, visiting mines in the Cwmsymlog area. Starting from Cwmsymlog village, by the mine chimney (see above), the walk proceeds via Banc Llety Spence to Cwmerfyn.  After following the track towards Rhosgoch lake we’ll reach Blaenmelindwr and Syfydrin, man made lakes that were created to feed the leats that drove the water wheels of several of the surrounding mines.

From there the walk carries on down the Leri Valley, with the remnants of mine workings and attractive views down towards Bontgoch. Finally, we head for Bryngolau and the return to Cwmsymlog.

The walk is a moderate one of about 7 miles, with around 750 ft of ascent. Dwynwen Belsey and Ben will be leading off at 10 am; other well-behaved dogs on leads are also welcome.

For more information or to sign up, please contact Dwynwen (details in the Members’ email) directly.
