Cambrian-Mountains-Crugyn-Ci-Summit

Wet-lunch-Llanwrtyd

With great regret, we have to cancel the last walk of the season. Judy is very sorry but she is not able to walk due to a problem with her hip.  Red Liford is hoping to rearrange the walk for a later Sunday in October; we will send out another email to all, if this goes ahead.

Just five members braved the pouring rain for our September walk, but hopefully that was enough to placate the weather gods to offer a fine October day for the last walk of the season, on 12 October.   Judy Gore will be leading a walk around the tops of the Elan Valley, starting from the car park of the Penbont Tea Room.  It’s a walk on rough moorland and tracks, crossing the Nant Blymbren to ascend steeply to the trig point of Crugyn Ci (530m) pictured above.  We’ll then then turn east and descend to Trehesglog rocks. After passing Rhydoldog farm we steeply descend to the lane that leads back to the top of Garreg Ddu reservoir and shortly the car park.

Jess on the path It’s a modest-but-challenging eight miles in all, with two short, steep rocky descents for which the leader recommends the use of poles.  Dogs are welcome.  Let Judy know (telephone number in the members’ email) if you are planning to come – it would be good to have a good turnout on this, our Twentieth Anniversary Walk!
